The World Needs a New Way to Talk about Heat

N. weather agency acknowledged that they are faced with the challenge of effectively conveying the definition of life-threatening heat to the global population of 8 billion people. This cautionary statement was made during a worldwide conference call with researchers associated with the World Meteorological Organization. It coincided with the Earth experiencing unprecedented temperatures, with July 3 setting a new benchmark as the hottest day in recent history, only to be surpassed by even higher temperatures in the following days.
